Imphal is the capital city of Manipur state, located at the center of the Manipur valley and surrounded by plains and hills. The city is famous for Ima Keithel or all-women‘s market – the only market in the world where all the stalls are run by women. Ten kilometers from Imphal is the Central Khonghampat Orchidarium which houses over 100 rare varieties of orchids.
