Kalpa is a hill station situated in the Sutlej river valley at the altitude of 2758 m (9049 ft) in the Himalayas. Kalpa is situated among apple orchards, pine-nut forests and the stately deodhars. The entire range of Kinner Kailash peaks covered in snow is visible from Kalpa. The town is also known for the ancient Hindu and Buddhist temples.

Nearest airport: Jubbar Bhatti airport in Shimla is about 225 km away.

Buses: The HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) runs regular buses from Shimla, Manali, Reckong Peo.

By road: The distance from Shimla to Kalpa is about 225 km via NH5. It takes around 6-7 hours.
The distance from Reckong Peo is about 3 km. It takes around 10 min.
The distance from Manali to Kalpa ir about 295 km via NH305 and NH5. It takes around 10 hours.
