Chitrakoot Falls is a natural waterfall located to the west of Jagdalpur (38 kilometres or 23 miles) on the Indravati River. The height of the falls is about 30 metres (98 ft). It is the widest fall in India, about 300 metres (980 ft). Because of its horseshoe shape and width spread during the monsoon months (July to October), it is often referred to as the Niagara Falls of India. On the left bank of the Chitrakoot Falls is a small Hindu shrine dedicated to the god Shiva and few naturally created grottos named Parvati Caves.
