Dispur is the capital city of Assam located in the eastern Himalayan range at the foothills of the Shillong Plateau. It’s a locality of Guwahati and also the seat of Assam’s government. Six kilometers from the city is the theologically important site of Basistha Ashram. The town is in close proximities to Jatia - the ancient capital of Assam.
