Jageshwar is a small Hindu pilgrimage town located at an altitude of 1870 m (6135 ft) in the Jataganga River valley. Jageshwar is also known as temple town. There are around 124 stone temples and shrines dated to the 7-13th century AD. The temple complex is set in the forest, 4 km (3 mi) from Jageshwar and 38 km (23 mi) from Almora. The main temples are: Dandeshwar Temple, Jageshwar Temple, Surya Temple, Kuber Temple, Chandi ka Temple, Mritunjaya Temple, Nanda Devi Temple and the Kuber Temple.
Other tourist sites: Airavat Gufa (cave), Mritola Ashram, Archeological Museum, Patal Bhuvaneshwar Caves, etc.
When to visit: best time to visit is March to June and September to November.
