Warangal is an ancient city and the second biggest town in the state. From the 12th to 14th centuries Warangal served as the capital of Kakatiya kingdom. In and around the city there are many monuments of historical, religious and cultural significance. One of the major landmarks - Warangal Fort is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.
