Chandigarh is the Union territory and the capital of two states of Haryana and Punjab. It is a first planned city in India post-independence (1947). It is a green city known for its numerous parks including the largest Rose Garden in Asia. Chandigarh is on the way to Amritsar and Himalayan region.

Nearest railway station: Chandigarh Junction railway station is about 8 km from the city centre. Chandigarh is well conected with all major places in Punjab and other parts of the country. There is frequent service to and from New Delhi by Kalka (Chandigarh) Shatabdi Express and the economical Chandigarh Jan Shatabdi Express. (Una (H.P) to Delhi).

Nearest airport: Chandigarh Airport (IATA: IXC, ICAO: VICG) is located about 14 km (8.7 mi) from the city. The direct flights to Bangalore, Bangkok–Suvarnabhumi, Delhi, Dubai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kullu, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Sharjah, Srinagar, etc.
Buses: Chandigarh is served by two bus terminals. The Inter State Bus Terminus in Sector 43 provides connectivity to all major destinations in the neighbouring states Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Jammu, and Delhi (limited). The Inter State Bus Terminus in Sector 17 offers connectivity to all major towns of Haryana.
