Jammu is a winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir situated on the banks of the Tawi River. It is often referred to as the City of Temples. It houses a number of historical temples, mosques and domes. Jammu is also a starting point for pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi and Kashmir Valley. Jammu bazaars are known for Kashmiri handicrafts, traditional dogra jewellery, dry fruits, chiefly walnuts and almonds.
