It’s the biggest city in Leh district, situated at an altitude of 3524 m (11561 ft). People of Leh are ethnic Tibetan, speaking the East Tibetan Dialect. The majority here is Tibetan Buddhists and the rest are mostly Shia Muslims.The culture and cuisine is similar to that of Tibet. The architecture has Tibetan, Islamic, Indian influences and a strong Buddhist approach.
