Puri is a pilgrimage town famous for the 11th century Shree Jagganath Puri temple. It is a holy city for the Hindus and is known for its annual Ratha Yatra or Festival of Chariots and Mathas (monasteries of the various Hindu sects). The city is situated on the Bay of Bengal and is a popular beach resort. It is close to the towns of Konark and Bhubaneswar.
