Bishnupar is an ancient, historical town famous for its terracotta temples and the Balucheri sarees. The temples were crafted from the local laterite and brick and are covered with terracotta tiles depicting scenes from the epic Mahabharata. The temples were built during the 17th and 18th century. There are around 20 temples in and around Bishnupur.
