Omkareshwar is a place of a Hindu Temple dedicated to God Shiva. The temple is located on Mandhata Island in the Narmada River, 70 km (44 mi) from Indore. It is a sacred pilgrimage place. The shape of the island reminds the holy Hindu symbol Om. The temple is one of the 12 revered Jyotirlinga shrines (devotional object) of Shiva.
