Arambol Beach

Arambol is a traditional fisherman village in the North Goa. The beach is both rocky and sandy. Arambol is a hippies resort discovered in the 1960’s and a popular destination for long stayers and backpackers. Accommodation in Arambol is almost all of the budget variety with huts located on the beach. The village is home to a rich live music, dance, yoga, meditation, parties and festivals. Arambol is known for the annual Festival of Freaks attracting crowds of tourists (February). The beach and the village can get pretty crowded during the peak season.

When to visit: best time to visit October to March. March to May is hot and humid. June to September is monsoon season.

HOW TO REACH

Nearest railway station: Thivim railway station is about 29 km (18 mi) away. Vasco De Gama train station is about 65 km (40.3 mi) away. Madgaon Junction railway station in Margo is about 70 km (43.4 mi) away. Margao station is the terminus station for several Konkan Railway trains and almost all trains passing through Goa stop here. There are direct trains from most parts of India including Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin, Mangalore, Bangalore, Gujarat, Kerala, coastal Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Buses: The Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) is the state government’s bus service. The nearest bus stand is about 2km (1.2 mi) away from Arambol beach. Buses go to Mapusa and Pernem. If you travel long distances you need to change buses. Biggest bus stations in Goa are – Mapusa, Panjim, Vasco da Gama, Margao and Canacona.

By road: The distance from Goa International Airport (Dabolim Airport) to Arambol is about 60 km (37.2 mi) via NH 66. It takes around 1-2 hours. 
The distance from Vasco De Gama train station to Arambol is around 65 km (40.3 mi) via NH 66. It takes around 2 hours.
The distance from Thivim railway station to Arambol is about 29 km (18 mi) via NH 66 and MDR17. It takes around 1 hour. The distance from Margo to Arambol is about 70 km (43.4 mi) via NH 66. It takes around 2 hours.
The distance from Anjuna to Arambol is about 21 km (13 mi) via Querim–Arambol–Agarwada Rd. It takes around 1 hour.
