Morjim Beach

Morjim is a small village in North Goa situated at the mouth of the Chapora River on the opposite side of Chapora Fort. The village is located 26 km (16 mi) from the state’s capital Panaji. Morjim has an isolated and less crowded beach with stretches of empty sand and palm trees in the background. It is home to variety of migratory birds and a nesting site for endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles. There are several beach shacks at the sea front and accommodation option in the village. The village is a popular destination for long-staying Russians and is often referred to as “Little Russia”.

When to visit: best time to visit October to March. March to May is hot and humid. June to September is monsoon season.

Nearest railway station: Thivim Railway Station is about 20 km (12.4 mi) away. Vasco da Gama station is about 50 km (31 mi) away.
Madgaon Junction railway station in Margao is about 62 km (38.5 mi) away. Margao station is the terminus station for several Konkan Railway trains and almost all trains passing through Goa stop here. There are direct trains from most parts of India including Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin, Mangalore, Bangalore, Gujarat, Kerala, coastal Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
