Ranikhet is a hill station located at an altitude of 1829m (6000 ft). Literally meaning Queen's Meadow the town is covered by pine, oak and deodar forests, apples, apricots, peaches and various alpine fruits orchards. Ranikhet town provides beautiful view of the western peaks of the Himalayas. Forests around Ranikhet host an array of wildlife including leopard, leopard cat, mountain goat, barking deer, sambar, pine marten, Indian hare, red-faced monkey.
Major tourist sites in and around the hill station: Army Museum, Jhula DeviTtemple, Rama Mandir (temple), Chaubatia Gardens, Bhalu Dam (artificial lake), Upat Kalika Golf Courses, etc.
