Cochin International Airport (IATA: COK) in the city of Kochi in Kerala is the busiest and largest airport in the state. The airport is located at Nedumbassery, about 30 km (19 mi) northeast of Kochi. It takes about one to two hours to reach the airport from the city center depending on the traffic.
The Airport is situated between the National Highway and the Main Central Road. The Nearest Railway Station at Angamaly is about 8 kilometers (4 mi) away. A new shuttle service has been started from Cochin Airport towards north side of Kerala called Malabar Safari and links to Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur, Thalassery and Kasargod. The service is on daily basis at 1:30 AM from Airport Bus bay. Fast Passenger (White-Blue Livery) and Super Fast Express (Green or Red Bus) buses operate every 10-20 minutes to most of the nearby towns and places. The buses point is located near Central Block (city-side).
To reach the city passengers can also use prepaid or regular cab facilities that are available outside the terminals.
There are two terminals for passengers: domestic and international.
Domestic terminal has 6 security gates and a common waiting area for 400 passengers at a time. Family lounge, premium lounge for business class passengers and a food court is available in the waiting area. Restaurant facilities are available in entry lobby.
The international terminal consists of two buildings for departures and arrivals connected inside with a corridor. The departure and arrival halls can accommodate 1800 people each at any time. There are four premium lounges for first class and business class passengers, duty free outlets at arrival and departure block, souvenir shops, restaurant, food court, snack bars, etc.
The Foundation Stone for the new terminal was laid on 2 February 2014 and is expected to be finished in 30 months.
The airport hotel is located at central block with fully centrally air-conditioned 14 private rooms and 2 dorms for guests, payable on hourly and daily basis. Six airport hotels are in 200 m (218 yd) from the terminal complex.
