Tiruvannamalai is a town and a pilgrimage destination, situated at the foothills of Annamalai hills. The town was ruled by varied dynasties and served as the capital city of the Hoysalas. Tiruvannamalai is known for the large Shiva Temple, dedicated to Lord Arunachaleswara.
