Darjeeling is a hill station near the Himalayas, located at an elevation of 2045m (6709 ft) above sea level. The town is famous for its tea and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The railway line connects the town with the plains and has one of the few steam locomotives in the country that is still in service. Darjeeling has a varied culture due to its diverse ethnic groups: Nepalese, Tibetan, Bengali.
