Located at an altitude of 2134 m (7001 ft), the city of Ravangla offers breathtaking views of the Greater Himalayas. The city is a popular tourist destination and acts as the starting point for the trek to Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary. Ravangla attracts many bird watchers too. Eight kilometers (4 mi) outside Ravangla is Rayong – a popular sunrise view point.
