Aizawal is the capital city of Mizoram. The city is situated at an altitude of 1132 meters (3713 ft) and is a 112 year old city, spread over several mountain ridges overlooking the valley of river Tlawng. Aizawal is a religious and cultural centre for the Mizo ethnic group. Twelve kilometres from Aizawal is Reiek – a traditional Mizo village, set at elevation of 1548 m (5078 ft).
