Jodhpur is the second largest city in the state also known as the Sun City due to sunny weather and the Blue City as most of the houses in the old city are painted blue. It is a historical town situated on the edge of the Thar Desert and often referred to as the Gateway to the Thar. The town is known for the 15th century Mehrangarh Fort.

Major tourist sites in and around Jodhpur: Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jaswant Thada, Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower), Mandore (8km/5mi) known for caves and cenotaphs, Ossian known for Jain temples (65km/40mi), etc.
