Dudhwa National Park is located on the border with Nepal and is a part of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. The park covers the area of 490 sq.km (189 sq.mi) and supports a large number of endangered species. The park is home to one of the finest forests in India, some of these trees are more than 150 years old and over 70 ft (21 m) tall. The animals to be seen here include tigers, swamp deer, Sambar deer, barking deer, spotted deer, Indian rhinoceros, sloth bear, ratel, jackal, civets, jungle cat, fishing cat, leopard cat, etc. The park has a rich bird life, with over 350 species, including the Swamp Francolin, Great Slaty Woodpecker and Bengal Florican.
