Itanagar is the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh state. The city is situated at the foothills of the Himalayas and is home to several tribes.
Major tourist sites in and around Itanagar: the 14-15th century Ita Fort or Fort of Bricks, the natural Ganga Lake located 6 km (3 mi) outside the city, Buddha Vihar temple consecrated by the Dalai Lama, Craft Centre and Emporium, etc.
