Darbhanga is one of the oldest cities of Bihar, located around 50 km (31 mi) from Nepal border. It is considered to be the cultural capital of the state. Darbhanga is known for its rich musical, folk-art and literary traditions. Darbhanga is also known for its mangos, especially Maldah variety.There are a number of ponds across the city, the major ones being: Harahi, Dighi and Gangasagar.
