Kesariya is the site of a stupa built by King Ashoka. It is one of the largest stupas in India and is a famous Buddhist site. The Buddhist stupa excavated in 1998 by the Archaeological Survey of India is a testimony of the ancient Buddhist architecture. Kesariya's stupa is considered to be the world’s second-tallest (38 m or 125 ft) Buddhist stupa dating from the Pala period. Kesariya could be a one day trip from Vaishali or Patna.
