Chanderi is a town of historical importance surrounded by hills, lakes and forests. History of Chanderi goes back to the 11th century. The Chanderi area has been a major center of Jain culture. There are several monuments of the Bundela Rajputs and Malwa sultans. The town is also famous for its handwoven Chanderi sarees with a rich gold border and two gold bands on the pallav.
